Successful Refurb Techs will master numerous duties relating to the efficient restoration of these products, with the ultimate objective being to create retail-ready goods. These tasks include (but are not limited to): - Testing, repairing, cleaning, and packaging various vintage products to fulfill wholesale and online orders - Various preparatory tasks for the assembly of custom vintage Polaroid cameras (disassembly of cameras, cleaning internals, preparing small parts, painting camera parts, etc.) - Assembly of custom vintage Polaroid cameras - Quality checking peers’ work --- JOB SPECIFICATIONS Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent in order to be considered for this position. No particular level of job experience is required; we’re simply looking for positive, hard-working, and reliable people to join our team. All training related to the refurbishment of goods will be provided on the job. The ideal candidate for this position will have a curious spirit - someone who is eager to grow, ask questions, and learn new tasks. Being comfortable with hearing and applying constructive feedback is crucial. Since we are a small company that is always striving to grow and change for the better, we greatly value flexibility. Being self-motivated in this role is extremely important, as the nature of this position is rather independent once training has been completed, and most of our refurb-based tasks have set productivity standards attached to them. However, group projects do occasionally arise, so being able to work as part of a team will also serve you well. Strong communicators with a penchant for crushing tight deadlines will thrive here. Anyone who is passionate about photography, music, or vintage items (bonus points for all three) will have plenty to talk about around the water cooler. If this description sounds like you, we would love to hear from you! --- WAGES, HOURS, & BENEFITS Wages for the Refurb Technician position will be based on skill, experience, and education. Retrospekt’s operating hours for all staff members are 8am-4:30pm Monday through Friday, with our workday ending at 4pm on Fridays. We can offer up to 40 hours of work weekly, but all applicants must be available to work a minimum of 30 hours per week in order to be eligible for the position. Evening and weekend hours are not available (except for the rare instance when our team is working to meet a tight deadline!). Retrospekt is closed for all major holidays. For employees who consistently work 30 hours per week or more, Retrospekt offers medical, dental, vision, and life insurance after 90 days of employment. Both part-time and full-time employees have the option of contributing to a Simple IRA retirement plan after 90 days of employment. All employees also accrue paid time off starting as soon as they begin working. --- ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, and are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employees assigned to this position. Refurb Techs must be able to: - Remain in a stationary position for up to 100% of the workday, depending on what task has been assigned. - Constantly inspect various vintage products to accurately determine what must be refurbished on each item. - Constantly utilize all necessary tools and chemicals required to refurbish the assigned item within Retrospekt’s quality and productivity standards. - Frequently use repetitive motions to refurbish assigned items. - Frequently move about inside the facility to access supplies, products to refurbish, etc. - Frequently be exposed to fumes from cleaning supplies or paint (respiratory protection is available and encouraged, depending on the assigned task). - Occasionally position self to move cameras and other products weighing up to 50 pounds around the facility. - Occasionally communicate and collaborate with peers and supervisors regarding work to be completed, status of an assigned task, etc. - Occasionally be exposed to loud noises such as workers using compressed air hoses (hearing protection is available and encouraged, depending on the assigned task). - Occasionally read and write in the context of reading/writing repair notes, determining the correct packaging labels to place on specific boxes, etc. - Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested.
