Description

JOHNSTON, RI — Thousands of chickens were killed in a fire at Baffoni's Poultry Farm in Johnston early Wednesday morning, the business said in a Facebook post. The fire started at approximately 5 a.m. and Johnston firefighters contained it to one coop and extinguished it quickly, the farm said. However, an estimated 3,000 chickens were lost. The farm was expected to open for normal business hours Wednesday and said they are grateful no one was injured. "We will rebuild and we will continue to provide the community with our farm fresh poultry products," the post says. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
