Description
PROVIDENCE, RI — Rhode Islanders looking to get their coronavirus vaccine can do so Wednesday. As of About 1:30 p.m., hundreds of appointments for the afternoon and evening were still available at several state-run vaccine sites.
The Dunkin' Donuts Center had availability until 5:45 p.m., while Sockanosset Cross Road in Cranston had appointments as late as 8:55 p.m. Other sites with availability included the East Providence site on Taunton Avenue, a pop-up site on Eagle Street in Providence and AJ Pharmacy on Smith Street in Providence.
Appointments can be scheduled on the state's vaccination portal. Along with Wednesday availability, appointments were open for clinics later in the week.
Gov. Dan McKee previously said that the state was fast approaching a time when vaccine availability would exceed demand in the state. Combatting vaccine hesitancy and making sure appointments are available and accessible to all Rhode Islanders is a top priority of the state's COVID-19 response effort, he said previously.
Rhode Islanders can get free rides to their vaccine appointments, thanks to a partnership with RIPTA.
