With the arrival of spring, there are several local road projects that will be starting up, but the same goes for the Minnesota Department of Transportation. During the 2021 construction season, there are going to be more than 200 MnDOT road and bridge projects throughout the state, as well as more than multimodal projects (airport, port, transit, railroad, etc.). Those traveling around Minnesota during the spring and summer should be aware prior to leaving if they're potentially driving into a significant project and detour.
MnDOT has announced its project schedule for 2021, including a video of the 2021 construction program, an interactive map with the full project list, highlighted projects and up-to-date conditions at www.511.mn.org.
Before you do any traveling this spring, summer or fall, take the time to check out these links to make sure you won't be driving into unexpected construction projects that could impact your drive to and from your destination.
