DAVIDSON, NC — Fans of the fluffy bowl of signature milk bread served up at Davidson's Kindred restaurant on Main Street will soon have a new option for enjoying it, along with other delights from the kitchen of Chef Joe Kindred.
Kindred, along with his wife Katy, are opening a new all-day cafe in Davidson called "milkbread." The cafe marks their third restaurant in the Lake Norman region, and is a nod to menu changes they made during the past year amid the coronavirus pandemic.
"When the pandemic started last March, the Kindred team was quick to rally with their community and pivot to develop a menu that traveled well, and met people where they were at, in need of comfort, optimism, and nostalgia," Ashley Miller, a spokesperson for the restaurant, said in a statement.
The new eatery, which will be located at 624 Jetton Street in Davidson, will be a continuation of that pivot, featuring milk bread donuts, crispy fried chicken sandwiches, vegetable focused bowls and salads.
Also on the menu will be a private label house roast coffee by Summit Coffee, espresso by HEX Coffee and non-alcoholic drinks will be served all day, as well as a rotating selection of small production independent wine and beer available into the evening.
Milkbread will offer order at the counter service for dine-in service, outdoor seating, along with takeout and delivery options, seven days a week from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. It's set to open later in 2021.
