ATLANTA—Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms issued the following statement upon the passage of legislation to enact retention incentive payments for sworn members of the Atlanta Police Department.
"Thank you to the City Council for working with our Administration to prioritize and pass these retention incentives. As we work to bolster public trust and public safety in Atlanta, it is important that we are able to retain sworn officers who respect and protect our communities."
You can view the legislation, sponsored by Councilmember Howard Shook, online here.
Retention incentives were among a number of public safety initiatives outlined in Mayor Bottoms' State of the City Address.
Recently, Mayor Bottoms unveiled the One Atlanta: One APD Community Policing Roadmap—a cohesive community policing strategy that will help reform policing in our community and protect all Atlantans.
