Beautiful 1.5 year old Retriever mix that needs somewhere to go ASAP

I adopted this very handsome, affectionate 80 lb retriever mix from San Antonio Humane Society a couple of days ago. He’s an awesome dog but he’s absolutely horrified of stairs and I live on the third floor. I’ve done a great deal of research online for this issue and have spent hours patiently trying to get him up to walk up my stairs and have spent hours with walking him up and down much smaller stair sets in my apartment with absolutely no progress. I’ve been having to carry him up the entire way and just in the last couple days my back has been killing me due to my scoliosis. I tried to go up to the shelter to return him yesterday but they told me that I’d have to call to schedule an appointment and that there would be none available until possibly sometime next week if I’m lucky. He’s great with people and seems to be great with most other dogs. He also enjoys playing fetch and retrieves the ball the majority of the time. I need help with this horrible situation as soon as possible.
