I love Mice, males in particular because of their personalities. I currently have a boy named Merci who is what you would consider a rescue or maybe an "adoptee". I got him from a lady who couldn't feed him to her snake so she was going to release him in her backyard, luckily I took him into my home before anything rash. I've had him for 5 months and he is now a personable, spoiled boy - he's even getting a cage upgrade soon. Because he's a bit older I don't handle him unless absolutely necessary. I would like a boy who's sweet, smart, playful, lovable, and likes to be handled. Age, color, type, or pattern doesn't matter as long as he's healthy and has a good disposition. If I were to choose a specified type, though, he would have to be a gremlin, albino, rumpwhite, or black broken which are my top favorites as well as variegated, partially hairless (sometimes known as werewolf), manx, or show-quality which are close seconds. Preferably not all black since that's what Merci is. I feed a variety of store-bought and homemade foods including fresh veggies, herbs, cheerios or corn flakes, seeds, grains, and some grasses. Provided for enrichment are digging boxes, ropes and cholla for climbing, hammocks, cardboard tunnels, and natural wooden chews. I provide at least 3" of substrate (not bedding - I prefer natural settings) and the enclosures are always at least 280 sq in. When I had younger Mice a few years back I would handle them daily - every other day if I was busy - and would allow roaming. As of now I have an older mouse, 17 fish, a small toad, and 2 cats (don't worry, these boys are terrified of rodents), all of which were rescued from bad situations.
