Warehouse Clerk $15.00 per hour, starting wage health/dental/vision/life, 401k +match Job Objective The warehouse clerk is a member of a team that is responsible for processing orders, receiving products, and cleaning and organizing the warehouse. The individual team members may be responsible for any one or more of the duties that need to be performed in order to complete these objectives. The particular duties that an individual performs can and usually does change as requirements change. Job Specifications The warehouse clerk needs to be able to lift at least 50 pounds, do simple multiplication and division, be willing to follow the directions of the supervisor, and cooperate with fellow employees. Relationships and Roles Warehouse clerks report directly to the Warehouse Supervisor and indirectly to the Operations Manager. The employee is also expected to work cooperatively with all other members of the company. Opportunity for Advancement We prefer to promote from within. List of Duties Picking The picker is responsible for taking orders called pick tickets from the office and pulling the product from the storage locations in the warehouse, putting it in a cart, noting it on the pick ticket, and bringing the cart to the packing area for further processing. Checking The checker is responsible for pulling the items out of the cart, checking to make sure that the correct items and quantities were pulled, noting on the pick ticket that the items were checked, and putting the items on a packing table for further processing. Packing The packer is responsible for packing the order in box(s) in an organized manner taking particular note of any fragile items so that the product will get to the customer in good condition. The packer must also check the pick ticket for any special packing instructions. Next the packer should write the number of boxes on the pick ticket and take the order to the shipping table for further processing. Receiving The receiver is responsible for checking and putting away the items that we receive from our vendors. The receiver must verify that the items received match the packing list, put the items in the correct stock location, indicate on the packing list what items were received and turn in the packing list to the office. Cleaning and Organizing The warehouse clerk is also responsible for cleaning and organizing the warehouse. This includes sweeping, picking up trash, and generally keeping the warehouse clean. At the request of his supervisor, the warehouse clerk may be asked to reorganize a section of the warehouse in order to improve efficiency.
