Rainbow Roadside Services is seeking dedicated Roadside Assistance Technicians on the Southside Hampton Roads: Virginia Beach / Chesapeake / Norfolk This is a 1099 independent contractor position Position Objectives Rainbow Roadside Technicians assist customers & motor club members by diagnosing and resolving automotive malfunctions at the breakdown location, in a prompt, professional, courteous and safe manner. We aim to positively influence customer satisfaction through excellent communication and technical skills. Most importantly, our technicians set the service standard. Major Job Functions/Duties/Responsibilities · Vehicle lock-outs, fuel & fluid delivery, battery jumpstarts & replacement, as well as tire change/tire repair services using established guidelines and quality control procedures. · Communicates with members effectively and in a timely manner to ensure their safety and satisfaction with our service. · Makes sound decisions regarding the immediate needs of the customer · Enter call information accurately into dispatch software, processes payments, handle cash and completes reports as required. · Conducts vehicle and equipment inspections, maintain tools in proper working condition. Requirements · 1+ years of experience in an automotive/mechanical environment, or technical school · Completion of a high school diploma or equivalent preferred · Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license - This is a requirement! · Satisfactory pre-and post-employment screening results, including criminal and motor vehicle screening, We are a Fair Opportunity Employer. · Must attain and maintain all state and local licensing requirements. · You must have your OWN vehicle with up to date proof of insurance. We DO NOT provide service vehicles.* · You must have a SMART PHONE · You must have a basic set of tools Knowledge, Skills & Abilities · Ability to communicate effectively in writing, verbally and using assigned technology. · Ability to use hand tools to provide service. · Basic skills using email and GPS (Global Positioning Systems). · Must be familiar with the area, and know how to work around traffic back-ups. · Knowledge and skills to perform various diagnostic tests. Working Conditions · Conditions vary due to weather, traffic conditions and the service requirements of members. Exposure to traffic noise on a daily basis. · Routine lifting and carrying of equipment weighing up to 75 pounds. Routine bending, kneeling and balancing to change tires, to inspect and to push vehicles. Routine use of fine and gross motor skills. · Required to adjust schedule and priorities to meet business needs. Required to work holidays as necessitated by weather conditions and business needs.
