Auburndale Builders, based in Newton, MA, is looking for a full-time Laborer. We build new custom homes, renovations, additions, and historic restorations in the Metro West region of Boston. Using our knowledge of historic homes and leading-edge building science we create energy efficient, net zero homes powered by renewable energy. The role of the Laborer is to execute a variety of manual jobsite tasks under the Lead Carpenter’s directives and the project schedule. The Laborer is expected to coordinate effectively with all members of the jobsite crew, including subcontractors, and support the Project Manager and other project team members as needed. We welcome individuals just starting in the construction industry with the desire to learn new skills and can provide on-the-job training. This position has the potential to grow into an entry level carpentry position over time. The compensation range for this position is $18-22 per hour dependent upon abilities and experience. Requirements: a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation to the jobsite, the ability to lift 80 pounds regularly, and the ability to work outside in all weather conditions. Responsibilities Consistently arriving at the jobsite on time and working within daily start and stop times Performing tasks as directed by the Lead Carpenter while maintaining an awareness of schedule requirements and asking for additional support as needed to solve problems and keep the project on track Maintaining professionalism and respect when communicating and interacting with other team members, subcontractors, and clients Ensuring that any issues that arise are quickly and accurately communicated to the Lead Carpenter or Project Manager Keeping the jobsite stocked with required materials with three or fewer supplier trips per week Supporting the Lead Carpenter in maintaining a clean and well-organized jobsite and ensuring personal, jobsite, and crew safety at all times Ensuring good communication and prompt response to calls/texts/emails from the project team Submitting coded receipts to the Lead Carpenter in a reliable and timely fashion Submitting accurate timesheets on a weekly basis
