*All CGBT events are intended for BlackWomen (cis, trans), BlackGNCfolks, & our sis & sibs of color, to intentionally create safe-er spaces *All CGBT events are intended for BlackWomen (cis, trans), BlackGNCfolks, & our sis & sibs of color, to intentionally create safe-er spaces for our sisters/sibs.* Join us for our Pop Up Ride as we take up space on the streets of Buffalo and liberate ourselves by bike, with self-defense skills, and books! There is so much going on in the world right now, many of us are exhausted and discouraged by what we are witnessing in our communities and nationally! So what do self-care and liberation look like during this time? Where can we go to release, feel free, and heal? While liberation and self-care can take on many different forms, for us, it looks like taking up space on the streets of Buffalo by bike. Biking is great for visibility, in a world, that constantly dismisses, silences, outcasts, and polices Black women and Black GNB folks. It is also a great tool for mental wellness, physical fitness, empowerment, and it acts as a form of resistance towards the different forms of oppression we experience on a daily! Bike ride details: This bike ride is for beginners and will be about 5 miles in total (there and back to our starting destination). We will start at Zawadi Books, where we will provide bike ride rules, browse the book store, and learn about Zawadi! We will then bike to the Buffalo Science Museum where we will offer free self-defense skills from a self-defense instructor (please note: the instructor is male.) After our self-defense course, we will end our ride at Sunshine Vegan eats, as we engage in bike trivia, our healing circle, and enjoy great vegan eats! Weather Details: It will be 54 degrees Sunny with clouds. What should you wear and bring? Wear a light jacket and clothing and sneakers that you feel comfortable in. We always recommend helmets. Please bring a mask and water! Need a bike? Please inbox us! See you soon!
