Meet the artisans working inside one of the oldest homes in the city. Shop and explore this unique piece of history! The Brouwer House, located at 14 N Church Street in the historic Stockade district of Schenectady, is a vibrant centerpiece of Schenectady city culture, filled with authentic character. The 1730s home is the only colonial-era Schenectady house open to the public. Visitors are invited to explore the homes first floor studios currently occupied by Leah LaFera of Sweet Sprig, who creates her line of all-natural soaps, candles and skincare in the 300 year old space. LaFera will also be selling her products including a line of Schenectady inspired soaps with names like: Cucumber Alley and Mohawk Sunset. Throughout the house and beautiful extensive gardens meet the artists working within the Brouwer and shop their wares. Deb Angilletta’s landscape paintings depict pastoral views and landmarks of the Mohawk River Valley. EQWilbert designs unique jewelry, wearables, gifts and home decor in addition to offering song writing lessons for teens and adults. Sizz Handmade offers unique weaving kits and artwork for busy people searching for balance and inspiration. Admission is free. Masks are required and house capacity will be limited. The Brouwer House Creative is owned and operated by the Schenectady County Historical Society.
