Half Of Wakefield Has Received At Least 1 Vaccination Shot

WAKEFIELD, MA — Half of the town's residents have received at least one coronavirus vaccination shot, a major milestone in the local fight against the virus. Thirty-one percent of Wakefielders have been fully vaccinated and 50 percent have been at least partially vaccinated as of Thursday's numbers from the Department of Public Health. That means 13,571 residents have received either one Moderna or Pfizer dose or the single-shot Johnson & Johnson dose (the latter of which is currently under a pause.) The vast majority of those over the age of 64 have received at least one vaccine shot. The 14-day coronavirus metrics saw improvement. The average daily incidence rate per 100,000 dropped from 31.9 to 27.7, the positivity rate fell from 4.19 to 3.52 and the number of cases dropped from 121 to 105.
