Will You Host A North Shore Baseball Player This Summer?

LYNN, MA — Baseball is back on the North Shore this summer but needs some help housing players for the first season returning to the diamond since the onset of the coronavirus health crisis. The North Shore Navigators, who last week committed to being back in the New England Collegiate Baseball League for the first time in nine years, are looking for host families in the area for players as they compete in the 42-game campaign beginning June 4. The team said family requirements include providing a bed, laundry facilities for personal items (the team washes uniforms), a parking spot if players have a vehicle and some help with meals. Players are provided with food before and after games — but breakfast and snacks are nice. "The bed is what's needed most," the team said. Host families receive a stipend depending on the number of players they host, a season ticket for each family member, as well as a Navigators gift package. Lynn's Fraser Field is currently allowed to operate at 12 percent capacity under the state's coronavirus reopening guidelines. The Navigators indicated on their website they believe that will be increased to at least 25 percent as of opening day as COVID restrictions continue to ease.
