PEEKSKILL, NY — Andrew Stewart, the former Orangetown Supervisor, was badly injured Wednesday in a car crash.
Peekskill Mayor Andre Rainey described the accident as "horrific."
"I ask you all to send positive energy and/or keep him and his family in your prayers," Rainey said on Facebook. "The city will keep you updated on any temporary changes as we pray for his smooth, and quick recovery."
He is in intensive care at Westchester Medical Center, Deputy Mayor Vivian McKenzie told the Examiner News.
Stewart became Peekskill's City Manager at the beginning of 2020.
Stewart was the CEO of Keep Rockland Beautiful for 11 years. He then served three terms as Orangetown Town Supervisor. After his tenure in Orangetown, Stewart was a senior vice president for Research & Analysis at Hudson Valley Pattern for Progress, a not-for-profit policy, planning, advocacy and research organization.
