Description

FRAMINGHAM, MA — Mosquito spraying is back for 2021. The East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project will begin spraying for the disease-carrying pests next week. The insecticide Bti will be spread by helicopter across wetlands around Callahan State Park, Fairbanks Road, Palmer Road and Walnut street, city officials said Thursday. Bti is typically sprayed in cooler months before mosquito larvae hatch. The pesticide contains spores that destroy the larvae of mosquitoes, gnats and some types of fly, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. The first dose of Bti will hit Framingham the week of April 19 and continue through the end of the month. The spraying will be done between dusk and around 11:30 p.m. Want Framingham news?
