From City of West Palm Beach: April 20, 2021 WHO: West Palm Beach Mayor Keith A. James Alexandria Ayala, Education & Workforce Development Subcommittee Co-Chair Daniel Eisinger, Criminal Justice Subcommittee Co-Chair Bill Jacobson, Finance, Banking & Business Subcommittee Co-Chair Gopal Rajegowda, Health Subcommittee Co-Chair Bishop A.J. Wright, Real Estate & Housing Subcommittee Co-Chair WHAT: Press conference to announce updates, developments and priorities of the Mayor's Taskforce on Racial & Ethnic Equality. The Mayor's Taskforce on Racial & Ethnic Equality was established by Executive Order by Mayor James last July. The Taskforce was established on the heels of national and local calls for change in the wake of incidents that ignited outrage, exposed deeply entrenched systemic racism in our country, and challenged the public's confidence and trust in our system of policing and criminal justice. The mission of the Mayor's Task Force on Racial & Ethnic Equality is to identify and help address issues of racial/ethnic equity through education about racial and ethnic inequities, research of best practices, and issuance of policy/funding recommendations. The Taskforce is in line with Mayor James' vision of working to create a "Community of Opportunity for All," whereby any resident can achieve their dreams in West Palm Beach. WHERE: City Hall, 401 Clematis Street (Flagler Gallery) WHEN: April 21, 2021, 10:00 a.m. NOTE: Event is open to credentialed members of the media only. Media is advised to follow COVID-19 safety guidelines and mandates including the wearing of face coverings and the practicing of social distancing. Announcements will also be made in Spanish and Haitian-Creole. This press release was produced by the City of West Palm Beach. The views expressed are the author's own.
