TAMPA, FL — The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has arrested a 20-year-old accused of taking part in a homicide last September. Dontavius Williams has been charged with first-degree felony murder with a firearm and armed robbery with a firearm discharge. Around 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 20, the sheriff's office received a 911 call about a shooting at the Coopers Pond Apartments on Fountain Mist Drive in Tampa. Deputies found a person who'd been shot inside an apartment and rushed him to St. Joseph's Hospital where the shooting victim died. Their investigation led detectives to Williams. Although the sheriff's office issued an arrest warrant for him in November, they were unable to locate him until this week. "It was imperative for us to track down and arrest this violent criminal who, at the age of 19, committed murder," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "This arrest reflects the excellent investigative skills of our detectives who did not leave a stone unturned until this suspect was taken into custody. His cruelty has resulted in the most serious of charges and we hope a lifetime regret for the pain he has inflicted on the victim's family as well as his own."
