TAMPA, FLA — A 49-year-old Tampa woman is among the Florida Lottery's newest winners after claiming a $1 million prize in the $5 million Gold Rush Classic scratch-off game, lottery officials announced on Monday. Shirley Mapp purchased the winning ticket from David & Hana Community Market on East Hillsborough Avenue in Tampa. Lottery officials said Mapp chose to take her winnings in one lump sum and will collect $710,000. The convenience store will collect a $2,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket. The scratch-off game, which is played through the purchase of a $20 ticket, gives players the chance to win $5 million. The overall chances of winning are one-in-2.99, officials said. Scratch-off games account for 75 percent of lottery ticket sales in Florida and generated more than $1 billion for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund in fiscal year 2019-20.
