DANVERS, MA — The Peabody Institute Library is about to get two new additions to the property. The Danvers Department of Public Works will plant two new sugar maple trees at the library on April 30 in honor of Arbor Day. The Forestry Division is planning to plant the Green Mountain Sugar Maples near the entrance of the library as part of an annual tradition. Because of the coronavirus health crisis, there will be no public ceremony this year. Danvers DPW said the tree planting helps reduce the erosion of precious topsoil by wind and water, cut heating and cooling costs, moderate the temperature, clean the air, produce oxygen and provide a natural habitat for wildlife.
