Description
KIRKLAND, WA — Beginning Friday, a detour will be in place for cyclists and pedestrians along a stretch of the Cross Kirkland Corridor as work gets started on the Feriton Spur Park expansion project. The short detour route, running between 7th Avenue South and 6th Street South, will direct visitors to a protected path along 5th Place South.
According to city officials, the new and improved park expansion is slated to open to the public by September, offering several new amenities for the newly-developed section of the trail corridor. The project includes a new 16-foot wide paved trail, pickleball court, urban farm, upgraded cafe, splash area and amphitheater, among the 14 planned improvements.
The park renovation is the latest upgrade along the Cross Kirkland Corridor, which spans nearly 6 miles through Kirkland and connects to the larger Eastrail system.
