Suspect Sought In 2 Robberies Targeting Elderly Women: Video

MIAMI, FL — Miami police are requesting public assistance in finding the suspect from two recent robberies targeting elderly women, releasing video surveillance footage from both incidents. The first robbery took place in the early morning hours of April 2, Miami police said in a news release. Officers responded to a home in the area of NW 12th Avenue and 30th Street around 5:30 a.m. An 86-year-old woman told investigators that a man broke into her home, demanded money and jewelry, and snatched a chain from her neck and stole two phones. Around 9:20 a.m. April 10, Miami police responded to the area of NW 11th Avenue and 32nd Street, where a man snatched a purse from an 82-year-old woman as she entered her home. She fell two steps down onto the concrete sidewalk when the purse was taken from her, police said. Robbery detectives are investigating both cases and believe the same suspect is responsible for both incidents. The suspect is approximately 5 feet, 10 inches to 11 inches tall, 150 to 180 pounds, and 30- to 40-years old, police said. In the April 2 surveillance footage, he was wearing a black cap, black mask, black pants and a polo shirt. The suspect wore a neon yellow/green t-shirt in the April 10 video.
