Attleboro Police Respond To Carjacking At Shell Station

ATTLEBORO, MA — The Attleboro Police Department responded to a reported carjacking at a Shell gas station on South Avenue Saturday night, reported NBC 10 WJAR. Police responded to a call about a carjacking incident just after 10:30 p.m. Saturday. The callers said an elderly woman was in the back seat when the car was stolen. According to investigators, two family members left the vehicle running and went into the gas station's convenience store. While they were inside, a man entered the vehicle and drove off onto Lathrup Drive. As officers arrived at the scene, the police department received a report of an elderly woman sitting on the side of the road near West Street and Glendale Road. She told officers the suspect stopped the vehicle to pull her out of the car and throw her to the ground, said police. The woman was transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. Police say the vehicle was found still running on Sunday morning in North Providence and they are searching for a suspect that is described as a thin man in his mid-twenties between 5'8" and 6'. He was wearing white fleece clothing at the time of the crime.
