We provide a simple, maintenance-free alternative to boat ownership and additional services that will allow our members to discover the real joy of boating and to foster a passion for the boating lifestyle. The location we are looking to hire is at our Anacortes club location at the Cap Sante Marina Gateway to the San Juan Islands. We are looking to fill part-time shifts, which is 2-3 days a week, weekend availability is a must. Or full time which is 3- 4 days a week with benefits. Starting pay is $14.00 - $16.00/hour plus tips. Pay is based on the level of boating experience and knowledge. Our shifts for weekdays are 8 am to sunset and weekends 7 am to sunset. You will need to be able to operate a small boat, local knowledge of the San Juan Island waters is helpful, but not required. We are a drug-free workplace, you must be at least 17 years of age, have a valid driver's license and be able to pass a background check. A typical day as a Dock Services staff centers around serving our members in the pursuit of hassle-free boating. We will be doing all the work to clean, fuel, and maintain the boats so that our members can just show up and start their boating adventure. The boat is ready and waiting for them. When they arrive, you will greet them with a smile and help them load their gear for the day, perform a thorough check-out and answer any boating questions they may have and don’t worry, we will make sure you have the training to build your boating knowledge. Responsibilities: Greet members in a friendly, upbeat, courteous, and professional manner. Assist members in boarding / un-boarding boats with an emphasis on safety. Check-out members using a handheld computer tablet. Perform check of equipment on board (life vests, anchors, dock lines, etc). Check-in members returning with boats and charge a credit card for fuel payment. Familiarize yourself with local waters in order to provide basic chart guidance to members. Drive boats between slips and fuel dock. Fuel boats at the marina fuel dock. Clean boats and stage equipment for their next outing. Deep clean boats as needed. Daily clerical work to prepare reservation log, fuel log, and weather reports. Weekend/Holiday shifts required (FBC is open weekends and most holidays). QUALIFICATIONS: High School degree. Must be at least 18 years old. Boating experience in and around boats (basic knowledge of how to operate a boat). Ability to perform minor boat maintenance (bilge pumps, fuses, fluids, etc). Physical ability to lift/carry up to 30 lbs. Physical ability to board and un-board boats dozens of times per day. Physical ability to clean boats often using handle mounted brush and water hose. Physical ability to kneel/stooping to clean the interior of boat compartments and secure boats. Vision adequate to read/manipulate handheld computer tablets in bright sunlight. Have a mobile device to use company communication apps outside of work (Slack and TSheets). Ability to maintain a calm, positive attitude during periods of high activity. Highly effective communications skills and friendly customer service is absolutely required. Must be a self-starter and capable of working unsupervised occasionally. High attention to detail. Maintain a clean work area. Control the traffic in Marina area and assist customers with docking boats. Always operate with an emphasis on guest hospitality. Use "clean as you go" method when performing your work duties. Adhere to all safety policies. Maintain a cooperative, team attitude in working with supervisors and fellow employees. Maintain a positive attitude toward the dock and the job being performed. Must pass a background check and drug screening.
