Strings On Tap The Pour House Music Hall & Record Shop 21+ Strings On Tap celebrates folk music, featuring backyard bluegrass and concert hall classics from North Carolina and around the world. DOORS OPEN: 630PM SHOW TIME: 700-830PM Strings On Tap is a collaborative show featuring local artists Joseph Cosgrove, Christin Danchi, Hank Smith, and friends. Bridging the worlds of bluegrass and classical music, the show follows the threads of folk music’s influence through the works of composers from around the world and right here in North Carolina. About the Artists: Joseph Cosgrove is a jack of all trades whose frequent excursions into uncharted territory are anchored by a deep love for art, communication, and viola playing. When he's not practicing music or championing new chamber music opportunities he's likely developing software, working on a new recipe, walking his dog, or throwing pottery over at NC State. His recent passions include JavaScript, hand-pulled espresso, and any live music he can get involved with. Christin Danchi is a collaborative violinist with a passion for exploring connections between music and other disciplines. Her performance interests include solo, chamber and orchestral collaborations, as well as southern and Irish fiddle music. She has performed at a variety of locations including the North Carolina House of Representatives, the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and the Antiguo Convento de la Trinidad in Alcalá la Real, Spain. Christin is an active freelance performer in and around Raleigh. When not playing violin, she can frequently be found baking or checking in on her honey bees. Hank Smith grew up in rural Florence, South Carolina, where he adopted the banjo as his instrument and his passion as a teenager. He honed his skills at the Saturday jam sessions of the nearby Southeastern Bluegrass Association. As a student at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina, Smith expanded his musical influences to include all manner of rock, jazz, reggae, folk, blues, and classical. A professional musician based in Raleigh, Smith plays with the progressive bluegrass band Hank, Pattie & the Current, whose fourth album, RISE ABOVE, appears on Robust Records (2019). He is a graduate of the IBMA Leadership Bluegrass program, a former member of the Local Organizing Committee for IBMA’s World of Bluegrass, and co-founded the non-profit American Music Foundation of North Carolina, Inc. Smith has extensive experience teaching banjo, mandolin, and guitar at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He is also a composer, currently working on 24 Preludes For String Quartet and Banjo. Please arrive with your entire party. You will not be seated until your entire group has arrived. * Please arrive on time. Think of this new show format of ours as going to a movie theatre. If you need to step outside for a phone call, to chat with a friend, take a smoke break, whatever. Please take it to the sidewalk and do not congregate in the alley. * Our shows are seated shows. With that being said, live music naturally makes you want to get up and move to the music. We have limited space and a very specific seating layout to adhere to covid distancing guidelines. Feel free to stand at your seat and wiggle those hips and shake those booties, but we ask you stay in place and save those wild dance moves for another day. Just think of how hard we are going to dance when this is all over!? Baby steps. Please take them with us. * If you do not follow the procedures we have laid out, we will ask you to leave without a refund. * If you have any question, concerns or comments, please let us know.
