Teen Killed, 2 Hurt In Stamford Shooting

STAMFORD, CT — A 19-year-old was fatally shot and two others were injured during a gathering at a Stamford parking lot late Sunday night, according to police. Police Lt. Tom Scanlon said the shooting happened around 11 p.m. in a parking lot of RPM Raceway at 600 West Ave. while a group of people were hanging out with their vehicles. The business was closed at the time, Scanlon said. (To sign up for Stamford breaking news alerts and more, click here.) At some point, a dispute broke out and shots were fired. The 19-year-old city resident was shot in the chest and taken to Stamford Hospital, where the teen died, Scanlon said. A 17-year-old was shot in the leg and a 33-year-old was shot in the chest, according to Scanlon. The pair's injuries were not considered life-threatening. The three shooting victims were not identified by police. Scanlon said investigators were at the business Monday afternoon and it was early in the investigation. Scanlon also noted there were a number of people who witnessed the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to contact the department's major crimes office at 203-977-4417.
