STERLING, VA — A carjacking and assault at Sterling's Towncenter Plaza on Sunday was not random, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. Now, authorities are looking to speak with anyone who may have more information about the incident.
The two victims, a man and a child, were parked outside of the shopping center at 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, according to a report published by the sheriff's office. The victims were confronted by several suspects who exited a dark-colored SUV.
One of the suspects, who was only identified as a man, had a gun and robbed the adult victim. Meanwhile, the child was assaulted by the suspects, police said.
The suspects fled the area in the man's 2011 silver Honda Civic, according to authorities. The younger victim suffered minor injuries, but declined medical treatment at the scene.
Detectives with the Loudoun County Sheriff's office are investigating the incident and would like to talk to anyone who may have more information. Anyone who may have witnessed the robbery can contact Detective Rodriguez at 703-777-1021.
