RITCHIE, MD — Police said a 13-year-old boy was shot and killed in Ritchie on Saturday. An incident report identified the victim as King Douglas of Upper Marlboro. Officers added Monday that they arrested a 12-year-old boy from Washington, D.C. in connection with the homicide. Police noted that they charged the suspect as a juvenile with first-degree murder and related crimes. Officers do not release the names of suspects who are minors unless they are charged as an adult. The initial call was for a stabbing, but police informed that they first found the shooting victim before he died on the scene. Officers mentioned that they then spotted a 13-year-old stabbing victim. Medics took the boy to the hospital where doctors treated and released him, the press release advised. Police expect him to survive. The report indicated that the violence followed an argument between two groups of kids at the shopping center. Detectives stated that they are still trying to identify and arrest the stabbing suspect. The Prince George's County Police Department asked anybody with information to call 301-516-2512.
