BEL AIR, MD — A Bel Air man has been charged in connection with an incident that triggered two school lockdowns Monday morning, according to the Harford County Sheriff's Office. Gerald Kegley, 36, of the 1100 block of Iron Bark Court, has been charged with reckless endangerment, having a loaded handgun on his person and having a handgun on his person, court records show. Authorities said the charges stemmed from an 8:01 a.m. report of shots fired by a pedestrian in the 1100 block of Vanguard Way, which is less than 500 feet from his residence. As officers investigated, the John Carroll School and Southampton Middle School reportedly went into modified lockdowns until the suspect was located around 10 a.m. After canvassing the area with help from allied agencies, including a K-9 officer from the Harford County Sheriff's Office, deputies said they found the suspect, who was later identified as Kegley. Officials said Kegley is being held at the Harford County Detention Center, where he is waiting for an initial appearance before a court commissioner.
