Description
HAMDEN, CT — A Hamden man investigated last summer on suspicion of keeping several dogs in unhealthy conditions is now facing animal cruelty charges.
The man, 34-year-old Edward Chieppo, was investigated by animal control officers in July 2020 after someone reported "multiple sick dogs" at a home on Rockview Road, Hamden police said in a news release.
When officers arrived at the home, they found one severely emaciated pit bull dog, along with three younger pit bulls that had medical conditions including skin inflammation, dermatitis, lung worm and fleas, authorities said.
One dog had to be euthanized because of its health conditions.
A warrant was issued for Chieppo's arrest, and he was arrested Thursday on four counts of cruelty to animals.
The man was released from jail after posting $2,000 bail, police said. He will appear at Meriden Superior Court on May 13.
