PARAMUS, NJ — Green Thumb Industries, the parent company of medical cannabis dispensary Rise, made good on a promise to donate first-day sales to a local charity. The organization recently announced a donation of $13,000 to the Paramus Children's Health Foundation, honoring a pledge the company made to donate profits from the first day of sales to a "local charitable organization making a positive impact in the community." We are grateful to have Rise as a community partner in Paramus," Paramus Children's Health Foundation President Marty Diamond said. The Paramus Children's Health Foundation "provides financial support to families of children who suffer from a severe illness or injury that results in economic hardship." "We are honored to support the important work of the Paramus Children's Health Foundation," said Green Thumb Founder and CEO Ben Kovler. "Green Thumb is committed to being engaged members of our local communities by serving our patients' needs, creating jobs, and supporting community programs and organizations. We are grateful to the borough of Paramus for welcoming us into their community." Rise Paramus, the first medical cannabis dispensary in Bergen County, opened on March 15, and is already making an impact with the borough's top official. "The Paramus Children's Health Foundation does great work supporting Paramus families in crisis and needs this type of private sector support," said Paramus Mayor Richard La Barbiera. "Rise is exhibiting the kind of responsible corporate citizenship we are hoping for as the medical marijuana industry takes root in our towns."
