Description
DANBURY, CT — The City Council will hold a virtual public comment session Monday evening on the proposed $99 million Career Academy at the former Matrix Center.
Under normal circumstances, a public referendum would be held to determine if the city should borrow the necessary funds. An executive order issued by Gov. Ned Lamont at the start of the coronavirus pandemic obviates the need for that vote. The City Council will decide whether to hold the referendum or make the decision on its own.
Residents may submit their comments to [email protected] for consideration by 5 p.m. Monday. Commenters should include their name and address. Comments will be read at the comment session beginning at 7 p.m., and streamed on YouTube. The Council will meet to make their decision beginning at 8 p.m.
The academy would provide Danbury Public School students in grades 6-12 with an opportunity to explore career options through hands-on experience.
