Decent saxophone player, mediocre guitar and bass player, and competent found-sound explorer looking to fill a Tucson-sized vacuum with an improvised music community that knows when to groove and when to go interstellar. Looking for open-minded percussionists in particular, but not exclusively. All collectors of strange things that make sound. Anyone who's ever ventured to The Stone or the Issue Project Room. Listeners of Ornette; Medeski, Martin & Wood; Nadia Sirota; John Zorn; Moondog; The Books; Missy Mazzoli; Bjork; Dead Kenny Gs/Skerik; lo-fi; Thundercat; mononeon; Erykah Badu; BadBadNotGood; Pharaoh Sanders; non-Western musical traditions. If you believe that music is a birthright to be cultivated over the course of a lifetime, that it's better to make new sounds than to expertly reproduce old ones, that recognition and connection can be fostered through the weird, that listening is better than playing, that playing nothing is sometimes the perfect thing to do, that instruments of all kinds can share a stage, that learning never stops, that music is meditation—howdy.
