Description

JERSEY CITY, NJ — An international dog rescue planted roots in Jersey City last month. No Dogs Left Behind is a nonprofit that rescues dogs in China from slaughterhouses and opened its first U.S. station in Jersey City. The organization rescues and rehabilitates dogs from slaughterhouses in China and then flies them to the U.S. to be adopted or fostered. No Dogs Left Behind's Jersey City location will be all vegan and house up to nine rescued dogs. The Jersey City location will be the hub for the organization's social media outreach as well as its junior volunteer program and fostering program. "We will have a controlled rollout of volunteers who will assist with walking the dogs and providing them with socialization because of the nature of their past (beaten and tortured and require additional time for human socialization). This is not a shelter, nor will it be operating commercially," the organization told Patch No Dogs Left Behind started in 2016 rescuing dogs in Yulin slaughterhouses. The organization has a corporate office in Florida and three locations in China. The organization told Patch it is not sharing the address of the Jersey City location as it will not be open to the public. The organization is recruiting volunteers to work in the Jersey City location. Have a news tip or a story that should be told? Email Samantha Mercado at [email protected].
