JERSEY CITY, NJ — A third person was arrested and charged with arson in the fire that destroyed La Tribu Minimart on Princeton Avenue in June 2019. Jeremiah Lane, 29, of Jersey City turned himself into the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office on Monday. Lane was charged with aggravated arson and conspiracy to commit aggravated arson. On the morning of June 9, 2019, the Jersey City Fire Department was called to a fire at 9 Linden Avenue. When firefighters arrived they noticed smoke coming from the first floor store at 343 Princeton Avenue, according to the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office. The building is a three-story, wood-frame constructed apartment building with four units. At the scene, heavy smoke was detected at a first floor grocery store, La Tribu Minimart. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire and damage was confined to the grocery store, according to officials. In October 2020, the two owners who are both from Jersey City, Amado Gonzalez-Abreu, 38, and Francisca Duran-Tejada, 47, were arrested and charged in the arson.
