WARREN COUNTY, NJ - This week, New Jersey decided to temporarily pause the administration of Johnson & Johnson's vaccine upon the recommendation of the CDC and U.S. Food and Drug Administration pending further investigation into six reported instances of severe blood clots. But Governor Phil Murphy said the Garden State can still hit the vaccine goals set. "To be sure, these six cases each appear to be extremely rare," Murphy said. "In New Jersey, where we had administered just over 244,000 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine prior to hitting pause, no similar adverse effects have been reported." But Murphy noted that even with this pause, the overall goal of vaccinating 4.7 million adult New Jerseyans by the end of June remains in place and entirely achievable. "As of today, doses of Johnson & Johnson have accounted for only 4 percent of the more than 5.6 million total vaccine doses administered in New Jersey," Murphy said. Last week, officials unveiled a vaccine tracker to keep current on how many full vaccinated residents are in New Jersey and more people are eligible than ever before.
