SANTA MONICA, CA — A fight involving six people broke out among a group of vendors at Santa Monica Pier Sunday, according to the Santa Monica Police Department. The fight started at Lot 1 North, near the pier and parking lot, about 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Lt. Rudy Flores told Patch. A total of six men and women were involved. Los Angeles County lifeguards reported that the northern and southern emergency access lanes were blocked by vendors and when officers responded they saw a confrontation happening between three people, Flores said. Officers tried to separate them and they continued to fight, police said. Other vendors also attempted to intervene, which caused a separate fight. Jorge Cruz, 26, was arrested on suspicion of unlawful fighting in public. D'John Chaves, 18, was arrested on suspicion of delaying, resisting arrest. Marco Murcia was arrested on suspicion of delaying, resisting arrest. Teresa Murcia was arrested on suspicion of assault and battery. Two teenagers were cited for unlawfully fighting in a public space, police said. Santa Monica Code Enforcement cleared all vendors from the blocked access points following the scuffle.
