Description

Press release from Sewickley Public Library: April 20, 2021 This Spring the Sewickley Public Library invites you to grab the family and take a stroll through one of five different community StoryWalks set up throughout the Quaker Valley. A StoryWalk® places pages from a children's picture book along a walking path so that children and their caregivers may enjoy nature and reading together. Starting Monday, May 3, families can visit the five Sewickley StoryWalk sites to take a self-guided walk around the parks and read a book as they go. Different spring-themed picture book stories are featured at each site. At Fern Hollow Nature Center, visitors can enjoy reading "The Hike" by Alison Farrell. Allegheny Land Trust – Audubon Greenway's location features "The Hidden Rainbow" by Christie Matheson. Visitors to Mary Roberts Rinehart Nature Park can read "Fairy Science" by Ashley Spires, while Ohio Township Nature Center visitors can enjoy the title "How to Find a Bird" by Jennifer Ward. The Henle Park location in Leetsdale is new to this season's Sewickley StoryWalk. Visitors to the park can read "Hank's Big Day" by Evan Kuhlman during their stroll. The StoryWalk runs from May 3 – May 23, 2021. All participants are encouraged to wear masks and practice social distancing during their visit. Enjoy the transitions of spring, take a walk and read a book together with your family! May 3 – May 23, 2021 The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. StoryWalk® is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Ferguson. The library co-hosts each Sewickley StoryWalk with community partners: Fern Hollow Nature Center, Allegheny Land Trust, Mary Roberts Rinehart Nature Park, Ohio Township Nature Center and the Borough of Leetsdale.   This press release was produced by Sewickley Public Library.
