PITTSBURGH, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department has issued a consumer alert for the Adan Market on Frankstown Avenue in Homewood after a recent inspection turned up numerous health violations.
Inspectors found chewed product bags and fresh rodent droppings present on cardboard liners. Mouse dropping were observed along cosmetic display cases. The inspection found "too many to count rat droppings" in the basement.
A chewed bag of cheese curls and a cup of noodles were ordered removed from the shelves.
Smoking customers were observed in the market in violation of the Clean Indoor Air Act. The market was filled with heavy smoke, and cigarette ashes and ashtrays were found throughout the business.
The market also was found to have no means to sanitize its coffee pots and slush machines.
