ALLEGHENY COUNTY, PA — Nearly a third of Allegheny County's adult population has been fully vaccinated, as efforts continue around the country to inoculate residents before the fourth wave of the virus takes hold. The total percentage of individuals in the county over 18 who have been vaccinated sits at 28 percent, according to a study from the New York Times which tracks county level data around the nation. That number places Allegheny County among the top tier of a dozen or so counties in Pennsylvania with a similar percentage rate. However, as the third most populous county in the state, there are still a very large number of unvaccinated or partially vaccinated individuals. About 54 percent of the senior population over the age of 65 in the county has been fully vaccinated, the New York Times data shows. Partial vaccination numbers do provide a more optimistic outlook: Allegheny County has administered at least one dose to more than 34 percent of its 18 and over population, according to the New York Times data.
