Description
After a year of canceled events and major shifts, nonprofits have taken serious fundraising hits. When Dress for Success Pittsburgh had to reimagine its signature cookie table gala, the organization decided the best way to reach the community and support its mission was to partner with local, woman-owned businesses to bring the iconic Pittsburgh cookie table to life with a drive-thru event. The Black & Gold Cookie Table Drive-Thru will be held May 16 at Hartwood Acres in the North Hills. Guests are invited to drive along the scenic route for family fun, jam out to a curated playlist and special appearance from DJ Jess, drive a red carpet and pose for photos, munch on a premium box of two dozen cookies from local woman-owned bakery The little Kitchen, enjoy an exciting swag bag from local corporate partners and so much more. Dress for Success Pittsburgh empowers local women with the clothing and connections they need to feel strong and confident as they take the next step in their career journey. During the COVID-19 pandemic, women collectively ended 2020 with 5.4 million fewer jobs than they held in February, before the pandemic began. Additionally, women have been four times more likely than men to leave the workforce due to the pandemic. Working nonstop to support local women, Dress for Success Pittsburgh works with referral agencies, volunteers and companies across Southwestern Pennsylvania to make an impact in women’s lives and empower them as they enter and return to the workforce. “We understand how difficult this past year has been for everyone, and we want the Black & Gold Cookie Table Drive-Thru to offer a sense of fun, hope and strength for the community, ” says Tanya Vokes, Chief Executive Officer of Dress for Success Pittsburgh. “We’ll miss hosting our gala at Heinz Field this year, but we are thrilled to offer this safe and unique way to connect with one another and raise funds to support women entering the workforce and our mobile programming.” The Black & Gold Cookie Table Drive-Thru will be held at Hartwood Acres on Sunday, May 16 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Purchase tickets by April 30 to guarantee your cookie boxes, and sign up for the car decorating contest and purchase tickets for the Black & Golden Mega Raffle, with an estimated $2,000 prize value! To ensure the safety of clients, volunteers, staff and guests, all attendees must wear a face mask and follow CDC social distancing guidelines.
