CALIFORNIA — Parents on Saturday rallied behind a teacher who was recently criticized for yelling at her students during a Zoom class, Fox News reported. In the video, the teacher was heard chastising students whose parents levied complaints against in-person learning. The controversial footage of, Alisa Piro, a San Marcos High School English teacher, circulated on social media last week. The video was first posted on Facebook and later tweeted by Reopen California Schools. "If your parent wants to come talk to me about how I'm not doing a good enough job in distance learning based on what you need as an individual, just dare them to come at me," Piro said in the video. The San Marcos School District transitioned to a hybrid model last month, meant to last until the end of the school year. "I'm so sick to my stomach of parents trying to tell educators how to do their job," Piro continued. "I have never once gone to a doctor's appointment and tried to tell my medical health provider how to treat me. You know why? Because I no nothing about that. I didn't get my degree in medicine." But parents at Saturday's rally reportedly defended her, claiming that she was "wrongfully depicted," Fox News reported. Last week, the district's Interim Superintendent released a statement to address the incident: "We are deeply concerned about the recent videos that have surfaced regarding one of our employees; this is a matter that we take very seriously and it is receiving our highest scrutiny," said Tiffany Campbell. "The employee has been placed on administrative leave and will be afforded due process and privacy rights."
