4-Time Convicted Burglar Charged With Burglary In Orland Park

ORLAND PARK, IL — A four-time convicted burglar was taken into custody by Orland Park police, after police said he tried to break into a condominium in town. Around 4:11 p.m. on April 9, police said they responded to an attempted burglary call at 15705 Ravinia Ave. Police said that surveillance video showed two men wearing masks pry open a locked exterior door to the building. After getting inside, the men used a metal tool to try and pick a lock to a door for a unit within the condo. The person who lives in the unit woke up from the noise of the lock and looked through the peephole of the door, seeing the man. The man then ran off startled after being seen, according to police. Police said they identified one man attempting to break in as Clifton Banks, 60, of Chicago. He is currently on federal probation for a weapons charges, and has four prior convictions for burglary, according to police. On Wednesday, Orland Park Investigators said they found Banks near his Chicago home, where he was taken into custody without incident. He was taken to Orland Park Police Headquarters and charged with burglary and attempted residential burglary, according to police. On Thursday, Banks was transported to the Bridgeview Courthouse and issued a bond of $15,000. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
