NASHUA, NH — Nashua Fire Rescue was dispatched on Thursday to a report of a fire in the building on Harris Road.
The calling party reported a fire in an attached garage. Nashua fire Engine 6 from the Conant Road Fire Station arrived on the scene within 3 minutes, at 6:22 p.m., and found light smoke showing from the garage area of a single-family home.
Further investigation found that the homeowner, using a fire extinguisher and a garden hose, had extinguished a fire in the garage near a workbench. Nashua fire personnel confirmed that the fire was fully extinguished.
An investigation of the origin and cause of the fire was initiated and conclusions are still pending. One firefighter suffered a minor injury while on scene. No civilian casualties were reported.
The cause is under investigation by the City of Nashua Fire Marshal's office.
Nashua fire reminds people to regularly check their home's smoke detectors to ensure they are operating properly. If you discover a fire in your home, do not try to combat the fire but leave the dwelling as quickly as possible and call 911 once you are in a safe location. Be sure to close doors as you leave the home.
