In honor of Earth week and Fashion Revolution Week, I am hosting a dye day in the park behind my house! It's my belief that involvement with the production of your clothing creates a bond that combats throw-away culture.
The best thing that we can do to make a dent in our clothing waste stream is do our very best to use what we have. One way that I like to refresh my wardrobe is to dye something that has seen better days.
In this event we will have one Indigo vat and one or two natural dye baths available to refresh something in your closet. I will also have some scrap materials available for play and tests. Please bring something that is no larger than an article of clothing(no bed sheets please :) ). Come enjoy the beautiful spring nature and connect with nature in a hands-on and creative way!
I will be sharing techniques for indigo dying, some shibori techniques, as well as some cultural and natural histories about the dyes.
Space is limited so please rsvp! Suggested donation of $5 per article of clothing
Bring with you: Apron, tall kitchen gloves, natural fiber (cotton, linen, silk, wool, ect.) garment(s) of choice
