EAST KINGSTON, NH — A girl died Sunday due to injuries she received in a motor vehicle accident on North Road in East Kingston on Friday, according to New Hampshire State Police. Around 11:30 a.m., police were sent to a crash between a 2010 Toyota Camry and a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck near the Kensington town line. According to an investigation, while the Camry was driving north, its operator, a 17-year-old girl, "lost control and crossed into the southbound travel lane," Lt. John Hennessey of Troop A said. "Upon crossing into the opposite lane of travel, the Toyota was struck on the passenger side by a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado that was traveling south," he said. "The impact caused both vehicles to come to a position of final rest off the western edge of the roadway." The driver of the Toyota, who resides in East Kingston, was taken to Exeter Hospital as was the driver of the truck, a 22-year-old man from Kensington. The passenger of the Camry was taken to Portsmouth Regional Hospital and then Boston Children's Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries about two days later. "Due to the serious nature of the collision and the fatal injury incurred, the East Kingston Police Department has requested that the State Police assume control of the investigation," Hennessey said. "At this time weather appears to have contributed to this collision, however, all aspects remain under investigation."
