Another 5 COVID-19 Deaths In New Hampshire: 48-Hour Report

CONCORD, NH — During the past two days, five more New Hampshire deaths were reported due to or related to COVID-19, according to State Joint Information Center. Three of the fatalities were from December 2020 and were recently confirmed as related to the disease, health officials said. The fatalities include a woman and man from Grafton County and two men and a woman from Rockingham County. Two lived in long-term care settings while one was 80 years of age or older, one was between 70 and 79, and three were in the 60- to 69-years-old age bracket. The state said 1,266 people have died or about 1.39 percent of all infections. During the past two days, 975 more cases were reported including 222 children after nearly 22,000 tests were administered. Most of the cases were female. Most of the cases — 220, reside in Rockingham County while 211 live in Hillsborough County outside of Nashua. Another 77 cases live in Merrimack County and 58 reside in Nashua. The state is trying to determine where 81 cases live. Nearly 91,000 people have become infected with the virus while 94.5 percent recovered from the virus and 132 are hospitalized. More than 321,000 people have been fully vaccinated — about 23.7 percent, with another 616,505 on the first dose. More than 2.044 million tests have been administered with about 51.5 percent of all people in the state receiving at least one test. The state has 254 cases connected to the K-12 school setting along with 99 cases at colleges and universities. Health officials emphasize residents should follow these recommendations: Avoid any domestic and international travel, especially on public transportation such as buses, trains, and airplanes.Practice social distancing. Stay at least 6 feet from other people, including distancing while in waiting areas or lines.When you can't practice 6 feet of social distancing, wear a face covering. Anyone who is told to self-quarantine and stay at home due to exposure to a person with a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19 needs to not go out to public places.If you are 60 years or older or have chronic and underlying health conditions, you need to stay home and not go out.Avoid gatherings of 10 people or more.Employers should work from home as much as possible.There is increasing evidence that the virus can survive for hours or possibly days on surfaces. People should clean frequently touched surfaces, including door handles, grocery carts, and grocery basket handles, etc. Take the same precautions as you would if you were sick: Stay home and avoid public places.Wear a face covering.Cover mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing.Wash hands frequently.Disinfect frequently touched surfaces.
