Penacook Woman Accused Of Arson, Endangerment, Other Charges

CONCORD, NH — A Concord woman is facing several felony charges after being accused of assaulting and almost burning a child on Saturday. Concord police were sent to the Willow Crossing Apartment complex on Village Street in Penacook on Sunday after receiving a report that a child was assaulted on Saturday. The child reported the crime to a neighbor, stating it happened the day before, and the neighbor called the police. "It was reported that the juvenile was assaulted multiple times and placed in a situation that she was almost set on fire," Deputy Chief John Thomas of the Concord Police Department said. Police investigated the incident for several days and then, filed a warrant against Viviana Peter Ajby, 42, of Village Street in Penacook on aggravated felonious sexual assault, reckless conduct-deadly weapon, and criminal threatening against a person with a deadly weapon, all felony charges, as well as arson, endangering the welfare of a child, three counts of simple assault, and three counts of domestic violence-simple assault. She turned herself into police on Wednesday and was held on preventative detention. On Thursday, she was arraigned in Merrimack County Superior Court and the rape charge was dropped by prosecutors. She was released on personal recognizance bail after the arraignment.
