Description
LEMONT, IL—The Forge: Lemont Quarries will host a special screening of Kyle Maynard's ESPN documentary, "A Fighting Chance," followed by a question and answer session with Maynard. The event will be held at 4:30 p.m. May 2 and is presented by The Forge Charitable Adventures, a release from the park states.
"A Fighting Chance" follows Maynard, who was born with a rare condition known as congenital amputation, which left him with arms that end at the elbows and legs that end near his knees, as he works towards his goal to compete in a mixed-martial-arts match, according to a release from the park. Maynard is also a New York Times best-selling author, award-winning extreme athlete, owner of No Excuses CrossFit Gym, and the first man to bear crawl to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro and summit Mount Aconcagua, a release states.
The event is free, but a donation of $10 is suggested, the park said in a release. All proceeds of the event will go to The Forge Charitable Adventures and SEASPAR. Guests are required to RSVP for this event.
Following the Q&A session, SEASPAR participants are invited to join an optional tour of The Forge: Lemont Quarries, which will highlight the accessible elements at the park, according to the release.
